Senior Living Last Week 🧓
It’s your favorite son-in-law Misha and welcome to Senior Living Last Week. This week you’re getting stories about:
(Marketing T&T) ✏️
This week we are talking about keeping it simple. Marketing Associate Clare Quirin & I bring our marketing experience to you.
It is important to take a break, and keep it simple. Although some companies draw attention through creative and unique ideas, it can overwhelm your audience if it is overdone.
Progressive took this idea and made a short and humorous advertisement out of it. Simplicity can range from campaigns, to video content, to designs. For example:
Which social media advertisement are you most likely to engage with? The Staples advertisement is quicker to understand and read, which makes that advertisement more likely to attract an audience.
This also applies to video content, events, social media posts, designs, etc. Humans have approximately an 8 second attention span, so any video content should especially be kept short and simple.
How can I do this in senior living?
The older demographics will appreciate simplicity in their lives. In terms of organic social media content, it might help to:
Keep social media copy to a minimum
Add emojis to the copy to make it more visually appealing and easier to read
Create highlight videos on social media, that link to their longer versions attached to the website
This applies to events planned in the community as well. Residents appreciate activities that are simple and easy to understand. Bingo! is an example of a simple game that residents love.
Activities planned in communities go beyond Bingo! Simple events such as:
Clubs (gardening, walking, book clubs)
Art classes
Life story activities
Engaging with robotic pets
Music listening activities
…and more! The activities list goes on. Seniors love to participate in simple, fun, and entertaining activities. So, get started! Brainstorm some ways to engage your residents, attract your audience on social media, and keep it simple!
